Steve
Jeffs is arranging to make the £1,000 donations to each of last year's chosen
charities, Air Ambulance and Fix the Fells.We are not yet sure if this
will involve any presentations. <br />
<br />
As agreed at the AGM this year's charities are Air Ambulance and <a data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en-GB&q=http://www.manna-house.org.uk/&source=gmail&ust=1526718491316000&usg=AFQjCNEmN3XnP_6J7aMt5ABnQH-yJf453g" href="http://www.manna-house.org.uk/" target="_blank">Manna House</a> Kendal.<br />
So
members really need to start planning some fund raising events that can
take place over the summer months and into the autumn/winter please.
Past events have included orienteering evenings, BBQs/Jacob's Joins but
it would be good if you could come up with some fresh ideas as well
please (and then carry them out with the support of your club mates).<br />
In
June, Dave and Lorna Hewitt will be drawing up the Wednesday evening
runs list for July/August/September ,so perhaps one or two of you who
are leading runs could come up with a money raising element that could
be included please.<br />

"A group of runners who use the Lake District fells have raised £1,000 for the Fix The Fells project.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Dallam Running Club has donated the money to the scheme which repairs and maintains upland paths.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Over the last 10 years the Fix the Fells project has brought significant improvements to more than 200 footpaths.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Joanne Backshall, Fix the Fells
Programme Manager, said: “We are delighted to receive this substantial
donation from Dallam Running Club and we are very grateful to them for
their support. It is great that they can utilise the beautiful Lakeland
fells on their doorstop for their hobby, whilst recognising the impact
they may have on that landscape.“</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Paul Sewell, Treasurer of Dallam Running
Club, said: “We enjoy running in the Lake District and are keen to give
something back to help maintain the paths and fells we use. Our members
contribute through an evening run across Morecambe Bay as well as
through their entry fees to two other racing events which the Club
organises.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The two races concerned are The 20
Barriers Race in early July based at Carnforth High School, and The
Arnside Knott Race at Holgates Caravan Site with the support of The
National Trust in mid November."</div>
